This is an accommodation facility where visitors are welcomed to stay with locals for an affordable fee. In the process, visitors get to experience first-hand the culture and lifestyle of villagers of Langkawi.

Introduced by the Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia in 1988, this programme aims to provide an alternative and different accommodation arrangement for visitors to this country. The first offiicially launched homestay was in Desa Murni, Kerdau, Temeloh, Pahang in 1995.

Homestay and LIMA 2009

In June, 2009,the Minister of Tourism has suggested that the villagers of Langkawi participate in the Homestay Programme during LIMA'09. Click here to read the news article.
