About LIMA |
|
What is LIMA? LIMA (Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace) is a series of exhibitions for organizations and companies in the maritime and aerospace industry to showcase, promote and market their technology, products and services. Since its inception in 1991, LIMA has become one of the major airshows in the world.
Where is it held? LIMA is held on the island of Langkawi, a beautiful tropical paradise that lies on the north-western part of peninsular Malaysia. Langkawi - also known by a variety of names such as Pulau Lagenda (Island of Legends) and Permata Kedah (the Gem of Kedah) - is part of an archipelago of islands.
The exhibition site for LIMA has been the Mashuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC). Click here to learn more about MIEC.
When is it held? LIMA is organized biannually. It is usually held towards the end of the year. LIMA will be held from the 1st to 5th December this year.
Why is it held? This series of exhibitions aim to facilitate the relationships, business deals and exchange among players in the aerospace and maritime industry. LIMA also serves as a platform for industry players to show their capability and capacity to senior government officials and leaders. Most importantly, exhibitors of LIMA get the eyeball of the decision-makers - both from the government and the industry.
Who started LIMA? LIMA is widely recognized as the brainchild of Malaysia's visionary fourth prime minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. For more about LIMA's beginnings and the honourable Tun Dr Mahathir, visit the lima2009 weblog. Click here.
